Position Title: Senior Membership Recruitment Associate The Position Reports to: Membership Manager Classification: Exempt Salary Range: $61,500.00-$73,000 Position Description and Goals
The Senior Membership Recruitment Associate at IEDC plays a leading role in IEDC’s recruitment membership strategy and execution. This position is responsible for developing relationships with both individuals and key stakeholders of organizations and promotes IEDC’s membership value proposition. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record for successful membership recruitment campaigns for national and/or international associations with a solution-oriented, open-minded, and collaborative approach to work. The Senior Membership Recruitment Associate reports to the Membership Manager.
Location This position is eligible to be located outside commuting distance of IEDC’s Washington, DC, office, and applicants from throughout the United States are encouraged to apply.

Areas of Responsibility • Proactively reach out to member prospects and provide compelling rationale to join IEDC. • Promptly respond to all membership inquiries, member referrals, and staff leads. • Solicit former IEDC members for re-enrollment. • Work across departments to promote IEDC membership at various events, both internal and external to IEDC, along with other outreach efforts across the organization. • Work with member engagement as needed to manage relationships to encourage member engagement and satisfaction, increasing retention and renewals. • Maintain – and improve where necessary – current member relationships and grow the relationship tree within each member organization/company (specifically high value and strategic members). • Facilitate individual and organizational member cultivation in other key initiatives that drive value and revenue opportunities i.e., seminars, trainings, and certifications. • Represent IEDC membership program at events and industry conferences. • Work with IEDC Advisory Committees on recruitment goals. • Identify areas of potential member interest/need and align them appropriately with IEDC resources, events, committees, and communications. • Connect and collaborate with other staff and leadership to enhance member engagement and relationships. • Work with membership team and other departments to identify opportunities for the development of new member benefits, member recruitment and retention, and engagement in all IEDC programs and services. • Keep abreast of - and test - trends and innovations and best practices in membership strategies and introduce creative ways to attract and engage members with diverse needs. • Regularly update member information in the database and produce regular reporting to CEO, senior team, and across the organization. • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Minimum of 3-5 years of membership account and/or relationship management experience in the not-for-profit or association sector. • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, an additional 5 years’ experience acceptable in lieu of education requirement. • Experience hiring, training, developing, supervising, and appraising staff a plus. • Experience with Airtable, Microsoft Office Suite, and iMIS is a plus, but willingness to learn is a must. • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and manage complex projects with limited supervision. • Willingness to explore professional development. • Customer service experience is a must, preferably in an association or membership development context. • Demonstrated ability to multitask while maintaining careful attention to detail. • Ability to work independently without close supervision. • Excellent organizational and coordination skills are required. • Excellent oral and written communications skills. • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, database access and electronic research. • Some overnight, out-of-town travel is required. • If not located within commuting distance of our Washington, DC, office, must be located within the United States, have reliable access to dedicated high-quality internet service, and willing to accommodate an Eastern U.S. schedule of operations. Occasional travel to the IEDC office may be required.
