The Continuing Education Manager is responsible for maintaining The American Psychoanalytic's (APsA) status as an accredited provider of continuing medical education for physicians, an approved provider of continuing education for psychologists, and approval to provide continuing education for social workers. This is done through continual monitoring and maintaining compliance with the criteria and standards for CME and CE with the organizations that accredit and approve APsA to provide of continuing education. Knowledge of ACCME criteria, APA Standards, and NASW standards as well as New York State CE standards for licensed social workers, psychoanalysts and psychologists is required.

The Continuing Education Manager works closely with the APsA Meetings Department to plan and present scientific sessions at APsA National and Annual Meetings that comply with CME Criteria and CE Standards.

As an ACCME accredited provider of CME, APsA joint provides CME for physicians with 35 APsA institutes, societies, and centers. The CE Manager is responsible for providing oversight and guidance to joint providers of CME with up-to-date documents, procedures and policies. This oversight ensures that APsA maintains control of CME content that is in compliance with ACCME criteria and policies.

Online CE offerings are developed through the Continuing Education Manager and members of the APsA community, including the editor of the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association (JAPA), the chair of the program committee, and the meetings director. 

All annual reporting, renewals, fees, reaccreditations, and approval applications with ACCME, APA, NASW and NYSED are the responsibility of the Continuing Education Manager.

The Continuing Education Manager acts as APsA’s main contact with ACCME, APA, NASW, and NYSED and is the main source for answers to all CE related questions about accreditation, approval, evaluation, licensure, and the awarding of CE/CME Certificates.
