Summary
The position provides an excellent opportunity for development and growth for a candidate who is new or early in their professional career. The Finance Associate serves as the first point of contact for the department and is responsible for transactional accounting tasks as well as administrative duties that supports the department's functions (i.e., setting up travelers in TripEasy). Provides support for implementation of activities in the Finance department. Assists department colleagues with carrying out efforts to meet objectives on organizational priorities with a focus on departmental contributions to all departments and units of the Association. Supports operational needs for appointed and member volunteer groups and APTA leadership. Supports preparation of compliance requirements and documents. Seeks out and supports opportunities for continuous quality improvement in department activities. Effective champion of the Association vision, mission, and brand.
Essential Functions
Provides professional support for the implementation of work plans related to respective activities of the Finance department which align with organizational priorities and the other Association’s various departments and units.
Prepares required departmental compliance forms as required including, when applicable and appropriate, entering accurate information for timely submission of all required forms
Provides support of the department operations, including opportunities to advance and gain efficiencies.
Supports the Business Affairs team in the implementation of the Association’s programs, priorities, and projects in partnership with department director and staff colleagues.
Prepares, in consultation with the Manager, department level data which supports and aligns with the APTA data strategy.

Qualifications
Two years’ experience in a business office setting
Accounting experience
Some college or relevant undergraduate degree preferred
Strong data management skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Must be highly organized; strong organizational skills – must be able to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
Proficient in MS Office, particularly advanced knowledge of Excel
Highly motivated; ability to work independently as well as with teams
Takes initiative, sets priorities, and sees projects through completion
