This is a salaried position. Working hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday thru Friday. Will require some nights & weekends. May require travel to out-of-town conferences.
Aptitude to speak in public and carry themselves in a professional manner. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to both internal and external customers.
Ability to prioritize work effectively, efficient time management.
Capability to lift-up to 25 pounds.
Must maintain a good driving record, hold a valid driver’s license, and own and operate their own motor vehicle.

The Membership & Council Director plans and executes a strategic membership sales and retention plan for the Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association (MSBIA), including develop and implement member recruitment, engagement and retention programs that projects MSBIA’s message and brand to building industry professionals in SW Florida.
The successful candidate will be an independent, self-motivated, outgoing professional with the ability to build and maintain relationships. Must be comfortable working in the construction industry and with other industry professionals. Though much of the work may be done independently, the Membership & Council Director is an integral part of Team MSBIA and must collaborate with other team members to achieve organization goals.
Position Requirements/Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate with the volunteer Membership Committee to achieve MSBIA’s membership goals. Coordinate the administrative component of the Membership Department.
Working with staff, direct membership engagement to realize a maximum amount of retention.
Promote member participation in MSBIA activities and programs. Be able to tell the Associations story and benefits to member and potential member businesses. This position will be tasked with membership growth and retention, including council and committee participation.
Provide support to the Events & Marketing Director for all member meetings including but not limited to general membership meetings, member mixers, council events including registration, tabletop displays, registering of attendees for and at all events.
Staff liaison to Membership Committee, and other Committees/Councils as assigned.
Coordinate and maintain all aspects of association membership.
Under the direction of the CEO, work in conjunction with the Membership Committee to develop and coordinate membership drives and campaigns.
Assist the CEO and Events & Marketing Director in developing and securing sponsorships, including updates to annual sponsorship marketing.

Qualifications, Education Requirements and Preferred Skills
Experience in a sale’s driven or membership driven concentration with a not-for-profit organization, professional society, or other customer or service-based company strongly preferred.
2 years preferred of similar experience, preferably in the non-profit/not-for-profit sector.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, hospitality, or related subject.
Salary commensurate with experience, benefits are competitive with industry standards.
Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and must become proficient in the MSBIA’s Association Membership software. Experience in Publisher a plus.
Proficiency in MSBIA’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is expected to be acquired within 2 months of hire. Producing and presenting membership reports to various stakeholders, including Directors of the Board, are an essential part of the job.
