Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through career preparation and leadership experiences. We are looking for a Director of Communications and Marketing who is a self-starter, forward-thinking, leads under pressure, and can excel in a high-performance, fast-paced environment. Serving as the chief communications and marketing officer, you will implement and oversee brand development, promotional strategies and collateral, media relations, print publications, and digital media (website, social media, and videos). Top candidates will be skilled at creating content that both engages student members and stakeholders. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must. The right candidate will have demonstrated excellent project and people management skills. Independence and collaboration are both highly valued.
Develops and implements a comprehensive communications and marketing plan to enhance FBLA’s external visibility, meet revenue goals and facilitate internal and external communications. Ensures the plan is consistent with the philosophy, vision and strategies adopted by the Board of Directors.
Ensures alignment of public messaging and branding across all communication platforms, including the media, FBLA website, social media, print and electronic communications.
Develops Association guidelines and procedures governing the release of information by FBLA. Determines need for new or revised policies and procedures pertaining to all internal and external communications.
Establishes benchmarks to measure external reach/engagement, and the effectiveness of communications and marketing initiatives. Using marketing data and analytics, makes recommendations for improving the efficacy of communication vehicles.
Ensures timely production and dissemination of all FBLA printed, electronic and web-based publications and communications.
Supervises the design and development of written, promotional marketing copy, including freelance contracting and management.
Negotiates and manages contracts with vendors for design, print and delivery of printed and electronic communications and marketing materials.
In collaboration with the management team members, develops communications and marketing plans for all FBLA programs and events.
Serves as key point-of-contact for press/media relations by fielding press calls, facilitating responses to inquiries, preparing news releases and building relationships with local and national press.
Attends FBLA state and national events (three – five times/year) and presents to FBLA membership and audiences as needed.
Attends committee meetings, making presentations and taking minutes for committee chairs as directed by the Board of Directors.
Provides oversight and direction to direct reports, Digital Marketing Coordinator, in accordance with FBLA's policies and procedures.
Develops and adheres to annual communications and marketing budget and ensures proper accounting and financial reporting for the department.
