The Managing Editor, PDA Letter directly supervises the day-to-day operations of the publication, and reports to PDA’s Sr. Director of Publishing. The operations overseen by the Managing Editor are: the editorial process and timeline for the PDA Letter (online and print), management of the PDA Letter Editorial Committee, issue development, editing and proofing, publication, and support/contribute to the development and creation of online multimedia content.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop the annual editorial direction of the online PDA Letter, in consultation with relevant PDA staff and volunteers.
- Manage the PDA Letter Editorial Committee.
- Solicit content from PDA members, staff, regulatory officials, and other SMEs for the PDA Letter.
- Collaborate in the production of videos, podcasts, and other online multimedia content.
- Utilize all relevant social media to promote PDA and the online PDA Letter and to share and develop content.
- Develop and conduct readership surveys.
- Track website metrics for online PDA Letter.
- Write articles for the PDA Letter based on attendance at PDA events, interviews, and independent research.
- Manage all editing, proofreading and publication processes for the online PDA Letter.
- Adhere to and enforce the PDA Letter’s Style Guide and help update it as necessary.
- Develop and maintain a broad network of expert contacts and SMEs both within the PDA membership and independent of PDA.
- Assist with the editing of PDA Technical Reports and other PDA publications, as needed.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- 4-6 years professional experience assisting a Managing Editor of a trade or mainstream newspaper or magazine (print and/or online).
- BA in English or Journalism

Technical skills required/desired:
- Skilled/experienced with creating videos for social media like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, others. (Desired)
- Experienced with podcasting. (Desired)
- Working knowledge of social media as a tool for developing and promoting content. (Required)
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat and Incopy, and web-based research tools. (Required)
- Capable of operating web-based communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams), survey (e.g., Survey Monkey) tools, database tools, website content management systems. (Required)
