We are assisting a highly reputable global non-profit organization, solving one of world’s most pressing crisis, hire a new Finance Director (Controller/Corporate Accounting Leader). This Director will be primarily responsible for leading the global accounting, corporate operations, policies, and compliance. This role will ensure uniformity, in accordance with local governances and established international accounting standards (IFRS), and maintenance of global accounting records as well as consistent adherence of all financial controls and standards. This individual will oversee the organization’s audit and controls function while partnering to provide financial expertise directly to other leaders throughout the organization in the achievement of our future organizational goals and strategies. The Finance Director will oversee our international countries’ accounting records and practices, global cash management and treasury operations, applicable international tax standards to ensure assets are properly utilized and protected. The role will report to the CFO and be remote based.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with CFO in the development and daily oversight of headquarter’s finance responsibilities and adherence to global accounting policies, practices, and compliance activities.
- In conjunction with CFO directive, oversee the integration of strategic plans in related areas of responsibility by leading the accounting and financial controls throughout the organization.
- Lead the establishment of the future global accounting and financial systems used to provide critical information to leadership and decision-makers inclusive of actionable recommendations based on experience and professional successes in international and domestic financial management.
- Collaborate with CFO in the overall financial stability and accuracy of the organization through monitoring of revenue, active investing of funds, the proper accounting of grant commitments, treasury operations, taxation, and all other related financial cost recording.
- Responsible for supplying quarterly financial and annual auditing results, annual tax filings, and presenting outcomes as needed and requested.
- Lead the daily accounting operations of the organization, while providing advice and recommendations based on financial results and analysis back to management.
- Serve as the global accounting, compliance, tax, and related policy subject matter expert to the organization.
- Interact with global leaders in related areas of accountability for all corporate finance business inquires, appropriate internal controls and safeguards, and financial practices required to operate successfully in a complex international environment.
- Build and facilitate effective fiscal and cash management protocols, accounting, and controls practices.
- Pursue, analyze, and implement IFRS standards throughout our international office locations. Then standardize accounting practices globally to ensure uniformity and promote consistency among the global finance operations.
- Lead in the coordination of all financial audit activity including annual global and local audits, government funded single audits, and global operational reviews.
- In partnership with CFO, ensure prudent cash management and investment strategies.
- Ensure preservation of internal controls and safeguards throughout all global financial operations and coordinate with other functional teams on best practices and controls in non-financial activities.
- Manage cash and cash forecasting while initiating appropriate strategies to maintain proper cash positions at all times throughout the organization’s operations. This is inclusive of income statement analysis, quarterly balance sheet reviews in all relevant locations, and forecasting future cash movements.
- Collaborate and consult with audit experts, ensuring finance team members remain complaint with federal, state, and international tax laws.
- Support CFO in the update and implementation of necessary business policies and accounting practices to comply with regulatory and taxation changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 10+ years’ experience in financial management and operational leadership roles with the ability to lead, drive change and act as a strategic partner to senior management.
- Professional certification (CPA or CMA) preferred.
- Experience working in a complex international operation required
- Not-for-profit experience required.
- Experience leading financial audits
- Strong technical savviness, including fluency with Microsoft Office, advanced Excel and database management.
- Experience implementing accounting systems and software required
- Solid analytical and decision-making skills and knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
- Experience interpreting and presenting global financial data with logic and insight to partners at various levels in the organization.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal) required.
- Requirement: Up to 25% of domestic and global travel.
