The Executive Director of TSPS shall provide management and administrative services to support the business and membership of TSPS and provide direction for the staff and contractors.  The position requires a hands-on, detail oriented, multi-tasking professional. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Strategic and Governance:
Support and assist the President, officers and directors
Recommend new ideas for growth and enrichment of the organization
Work with Board of Directors on governance issues
Develop and maintain valuable external relationships
Familiarity with Association law

Management:
Prepare annual budget
Compile information for monthly financial reports
Oversee financial investment program
Ensure that required remittances, payables and receivables are current and documented
Monitor association activities for budgetary impact
Lead and direct professional staff
Manage personnel matters including insurance, taxes, pension plans, employee discipline and performance appraisal

Event Planning:
Negotiate contracts with hotels and other necessary vendors
Work with convention committee to plan educational sessions and secure program speakers
Manage exhibit sales
Oversee onsite logistics
Work with multiple service providers
Arrange special events—dinners, keynotes, galas, golf, etc.
Manage sponsorship program
Manage event budgets

Marketing and promotion:
Chapter outreach to communicate updates from the state headquarters office
Promote TSPS through committees, membership, agency relations, liaison relationships and legislation
Process annual dues renewals and manage membership records
Coordinate with committee chairs on programs both internal and external
Direct communication with members

Computer skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft office, QuickBooks software
Experience with the various social media platforms
Knowledge of YourMembership AMS or similar AMS a plus

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business;
• Registered lobbyist preferred but not required;
• Five to ten years’ experience in nonprofit association management-professional or trade;
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and adapt to a dynamic environment;
• Personal qualities that include positive leadership, excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency with computers and social media;
• Ability to effectively work with an annually changing and diverse volunteer leadership;
• Knowledge of legislative process and ability to support legislative team and communicate with members on issues of concern;
• Demonstrated success with staff management, financial growth, and operational activities; and
• Ability to translate strategic initiatives into operational projects and lead staff to successful completion.
