Our Director of Membership will manage a variety of strategic and administrative duties and tasks, as well as be a key team player in a variety of activities across programs.
The position is full-time and remote. The ideal candidate will be based in Chicago, DC, or other major metro area with willingness to travel for team-building activities and events as needed. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Director of Membership is responsible for developing and executing an integrated plan with the goal of recruiting, engaging, serving, and retaining members of C200. The ideal person will have an eye towards strategic, engaged growth rather than one based strictly on volume. Expansion into emerging industries and regions with a plan rooted in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is highly valued.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Membership works closely with the Board-led Membership Committee. The Director also works in close collaboration with colleagues in Development, Marketing, and Educational Programs to ensure that communications and services are consistent, effective, and engaging to all audiences.
The successful candidate will:
Be a member-focused problem-solver and facilitator, with superb analytical skills.
Be experienced in working with C-Suite leadership and managing executive communication.
Have progressive experience with Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives, and driving results.
Be able to operate at both the strategic and tactical level, with keen attention to detail.
Have excellent and accurate oral and written communications skills.
Be highly collaborative, serving as a unifying force across complex initiatives.
Have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing (preferred.)
Have a minimum of 5- 8 years of progressive professional experience in membership and association management.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE?
The Director will work in collaboration with colleagues with the following core responsibilities:
Develop and implement ongoing member recruitment, engagement, and retention plans for C200, based on the member value proposition and highlighting member benefits.
Working with Educational Programs, develop strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement as a means of membership renewal, with focus on engagement and involvement of new members.
Serve as primary staff liaison to Membership Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Committees of the Board of Directors participating in strategy development, planning and implementation required for success.
Lead the member recruitment process, including sourcing and prospect identification, recruitment, and onboarding. Build and maintain in-depth rapport and relationships with prospects to identify, cultivate, and bring in top-quality members who are aligned with C200’s mission.
Provide leadership for all aspects of daily operations to include prospect and membership data entry, integrity, accuracy, and reporting.
Collect and report on membership demographics and provide relevant statistics to monitor progress against goals.
Direct competitive intelligence gathering and analysis on key competitors, potential partners, and other factors that may impact C200’s members. Use findings to inform and recommend program development/change decisions.
Work with designated committees on the ongoing development of the website and implementation of other marketing tools needed for prospective member information and engagement.
Hire, train, and develop interns and shared resources.
