ABANA is seeking an Executive Director to lead the Association and its staff in fulfilling its mission to “connect, support and inform finance professionals and institutions with interest in the Middle East and North Africa.” The position requires a proactive individual who has a genuine interest in recruiting, retaining and cultivating members, and who brings solid leadership skills and knowledge of organizational management. The candidate will need to have the energy, drive and ambition to market the work of the Association and grow the membership while increasing membership revenues.
The Executive Director will:
Develop and execute a business plan to enhance ABANA’s memberships, programming, value proposition and revenue stream
Manage resources and expenses in an efficient manner to ensure the growth of the Association
Raise the profile and relevance of ABANA amongst members, the financial community, targeted media and other key constituents
Elevate the quality and depth of membership benefits
Develop new relationships and partnerships on behalf of the Association with other organization
ABANA’s Executive Director reports to the Board Chair and takes responsibility for:
Managing all aspects of Association activities under the direction of the Board Chair
Acting as spokesperson for the Association, hosting events and presenting on behalf of the Association
Interfacing with sponsors and supporters of the Association
Managing, motivating and mentoring staff members and volunteers
Maximizing the effectiveness and professional growth of Association staff members
Ensure that the Association’s technical competencies are up to date and fully utilized, including hardware/software, online presence, social media, etc.
Publication of content on behalf of the Association
Managing day-to-day operation of the Association, including preparation of annual budget, financial statements and annual reports, staff performance reviews.
Maintaining and reviewing standard operating procedures for the Association
Executing and evaluating the quality and effectiveness of key events, including ABANA’s annual award dinner, summits, discussions and networking events.
The successful candidate will be a senior professional with drive and relevant experience, including:
Familiarity with trends affecting our members, with leading financial institutions in the MENA region and with key leaders in the financial services community
Impeccable written and oral communication skills
Strong public relations and fundraising skills
Significant expertise in managing a professional association or similar non-profit organizations, including a successful record of revenue generation through membership, sponsorships and other fundraising efforts
Business acumen and good people management skills
Demonstrated ability to establish, monitor and achieve strategic goals
Creating and executing thought-leadership through forums and communications
Additional Salary Information: The package is negotiable within limitation and will have a highly metric-driven discretionary bonus element built into it to attract the right candidate.
