The Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architects, Las Vegas Chapter and the Executive Committee of AIA Nevada Chapter, are seeking a visionary, highly engaged, dynamic individual and an interest in Architecture and Design to inspire and lead both the Las Vegas and Nevada Chapters in pursuing the mission of promoting the architecture profession through the strength and participation of its members. The Executive Director (ED) serves as the hands-on leader for both Chapters and works with both the AIA Nevada Executive Committee and the AIA Las Vegas Board of Directors to execute the strategic initiatives to Advocate, Educate, Engage, Empower and Advance the organizations. The ED ensures the organization's role as a source of education, information, community involvement, advocacy and development. The ED often serves as the first contact with the public for the profession and should represent the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm. The ED should be a consensus builder with a passion for design who can advocate for the profession across the state of Nevada, regionally and nationally.

To achieve organizational goals, the Executive Director will need to work flexible hours which will include occasional weekends and evenings in order to participate in events, committee meetings, board meetings, retreats, travel and other AIA related functions. In addition, the Executive Director will travel inside and out of Nevada from time to time to attend the meetings, events, conferences of AIA National and the AIA Council of Architectural Component Executives (CACE). Travel expenses are covered or reimbursed per AIA Nevada/AIA Las Vegas policies.
Interviews will be accepted through September. Interviews will be scheduled for October and November with the target of selected candidate starting on December 1, 2020.
A minimum of five years' experience in upper management positions within an association is preferred. Relevant Bachelor's Degree, CAE designation or other related higher education preferred. A diversity of knowledge and skills to effectively manage the organizations including personnel management, membership management and growth, advocacy, event management, communications strategies, technology savvy, and building of partnerships and coalitions. Ability to set priorities delegate responsibilities, mentor, motivate and develop others. Strong ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities. Strong creative and entrepreneurial spirit that enables the organization to grow and expand its influence within its vision and mission. Willing to relocate to Las Vegas area (relocation allowance is negotiable.)

Chartered in 1954, the Nevada Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Nevada) has worked to amplify that voice throughout Nevada, empowering architects to excel at their craft and strengthen their practice, profession and community. As the State Component, AIA Nevada is primarily responsible for legislative advocacy and representing AIA members in Nevada on the state, regional and federal levels. Statewide membership includes 409 architects and associates in Las Vegas and 102 in Northern Nevada, for a current total of 511 members.
The AIA Las Vegas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, chartered in 1956, advocates for and advances the profession of architecture and design in Southern Nevada. Current membership includes 409 Architects and Associates and 125 Allied members for a total of 539 members.
Each Chapter functions as an independent not-for-profit organ...ization, but both Chapters share offices located in Las Vegas, and work collaboratively to provide and align services and benefits to the membership. Both Chapters operate with a full-time staff of two people, (the ED and the Director of Operations) active volunteers and independent contractors. AIA Las Vegas has an annual budget of approximately $500,000 and AIA Nevada has an annual budget of approximately $90,000.
