National Science Teaching Association is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of eCYBERMISSION Volunteer Outreach Specialist. eCYBERMISSION is one of several science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiatives sponsored by the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) and administered by NSTA. This position is grant-funded. The Volunteer Outreach Specialist will work with the Volunteer Manager to establish short and long-range goals to achieve eCYBERMISSION volunteer objectives, primarily related to volunteer recruitment. Develop and implement broad-based recruitment strategies to attract and identify eCYBERMISSION volunteers to effectively support program goals and volunteer activities. In cooperation with the Volunteer Manager, the outreach specialist will execute specific activities to reach recruitment targets for the Volunteer program by reaching out to associations, organizations and academic institutions that may provide synergistic support in providing student participants, or adult volunteers in support of the eCYBERMISSION competition. Through various resource pools, networks and social media, actively engage in direct, focused, targeted volunteer recruiting at Army Research Laboratories (ARL) that support outreach for volunteers. Develop, monitor and maintain volunteer database with accurate records of all potential and actual volunteer leads using various volunteer tracking tools. Maintain and deliver ongoing and up to date communications and resources to the Volunteer Manager to assure consistent movement toward goal of increased volunteer participation in the competition from military and industry; serve as a trainer and point of contact for personnel from the military, DoDEA and Industry to promote and support eCYBERMISSION program success. The Volunteer Outreach Specialist will provide a monthly report for the Volunteer Manager on outreach efforts. Partner with the Volunteer Program Specialist to create new, cohesive outreach and recruitment strategies. Other duties as assigned by the eCYBERMISSION Volunteer Manager. Travel to for recruitment of volunteers is required (20 or more trips per competition year) in addition to the participation at the National Judging and Educational Event. **Due to COVID-19 travel for this position is temporarily suspended and outreach will be conducted virtually** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution (an equivalent of related education and professional experience may be considered). Minimum 3-5 years related experience to include a proven track record of successful volunteer recruitment; an ability to work well independently and a strong internal level of motivation. Must be extremely adept with a variety of social/professional networking and informal learning platforms and have excellent customer service skills, a have a high competency for database management technology, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. An understanding of military processes and protocol preferred.
