Phillips Leadership and Consulting has been obtained to conduct a search for a new Executive Director to work in the association management division and lead E&A’s largest client, the Virginia Society of Association Executives (VSAE). The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, innovative and detail-oriented team leader. Knowledge and experience in association management, Board management, sponsorships, and financial management is key. Attention to detail, ability to think ahead, and strong customer service skills are essential.
This full-time exempt position is on-site in our Richmond office. Travel mostly within Virginia is required with some overnights annually. College degree or relevant experience required.
Work directly with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors to efficiently and effectively lead and manage VSAE towards fulfilling its Mission and Strategic Objectives.
Work with the Treasurer and CFO to manage VSAE’s financial assets and budget.
Work with the Deputy Executive Director to lead the dedicated staff and volunteers.
Work with the Board on the development and implementation of the strategic plan.
Work with Education Committee on all professional development programming including securing content leaders
Work with CAE Committee to promote the CAE program and manage the semi-annual study groups
Work with the CEO and staff team on VSAE’s bundled advertising and sponsorship program, the Partner Program, including selling, managing, and delivering benefits.
Oversee the communications program including print newsletter, digital newsletter, website, social media, and all marketing and promotion.
Marketing and sales of membership including recruitment and retention strategies.
Required Oversee workflow, project, and team management for all assigned association management clients.
5-7 years of association management or related experience with senior management experience.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to interact positively with a variety of personality types.
Excellent customer service skills for interactions with clients, Board, volunteers, vendors, and members.
Strong communication (written and verbal), proofreading, time management, and organizational skills.
Visionary who thinks, acts and leads strategically.
Exceptional project management skills with attention to detail.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with association management systems; proficiency with MemberClicks a plus.
Problem solving, analytical thinking, and ability to work on multiple tasks independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment to meet deadlines.
A Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation is preferred.
