The National Grocers Association (NGA) seeks a results driven leader for the position of Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration. Working in close coordination with the President / CEO and leadership team, the Sr. Vice President of Finance and Administration ensures all financial practices, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and followed. As part of the senior leadership team, the individual works to implement the strategic plan, while safeguarding the organization’s financial security, increasing bottom line financial results and reducing risks. Supports the organization’s employees by administering payroll and benefits. NGA is a growing mid-size trade association with a sizable reserve fund. The successful candidate will have experience proactively managing organization wide budgets, effectively managing finance and accounting operations, experience overseeing investment portfolios, and experience administering employee benefit programs. Previous experience setting and implementing strategy is important. The individual must be a self-starter with strong communication skills and impeccable integrity. Financial Management - Prepare, analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements and oversee all financial, project/program, and affiliates accounting.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors and NGA’s audit committee.
- In conjunction with the President and CEO, effectively communicate and present financial reporting to the treasurer, executive committee and board of directors during scheduled meetings.
- Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the President / CEO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets;
- Lead monthly budget owners’ meetings; monitor progress and changes during monthly budget meetings with budget owners and President / CEO
- Manage banking relationships; manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Manages employee expense reimbursement process, including administering expensing software (Certify), and corporate AMEX statement.
- Working with internal stakeholders, ensure that the billing and collection schedule is adhered to as are disbursements and that cash flows are steady and support operational requirements.
- Continually update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; regularly update the finance department’s policies and procedures manual. Adhere to organization and board approved policies and procedures.
- Serve as the staff liaison to NGA’s Investment Committee; work with NGA’s investment firms to ensure timely reporting, adherence to policy benchmarks.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, regulatory requirements and best practices for non-profits.
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenues, disbursements and program budgets.
- Oversee and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
- Effectively lead and manage the accounting staff.
Human Resources and Administration - Oversee payroll preparation and payroll tax filings, as well as employee PTO.
- Administer benefits programs including health, dental, life insurance and 401(k) plan.
- Onboard new employees into payroll and benefit systems. Manage employee time and attendance software (Bamboo HR).
- Serve as the point of contact between NGA and the landlord.
- Oversee NGA vendor contracts to ensure proper tracking, filing, and renewals as needed.
- Serve as a liaison to key vendors, including NGA’s IT vendor.
