GENERAL FUNCTIONS The Director of Member Engagement’s primary focus is to spearhead IAMC’s specific activities which provides member value and active engagement in IAMC, manifesting in the retention of members for the long-term. The director will collaborate with the Director of Member Recruitment to provide ongoing member value to current members. One important grass-roots opportunity to engage and recruit members is through our local meetings in target markets around the country. The Director of Member Engagement will work with the Director of Member Recruitment with attendance efforts at these local meetings.
It is an important distinction that the Director of Member Engagement understands that IAMC’s “Corporate” members are the anchors of the organization and requires primary focus.
The Director of Member Engagement will be responsible for maintaining direct, ongoing communications with current members with the purpose of deepening relationships and encouraging member engagement through committee work, networking opportunities, member recognition programs, education session speaking/panels, member leadership development (i.e. board selection), etc.
This position will stay connected with current members through various methods including regular, scheduled calls, emails, cards/mail, in-person visits, and acting as staff liaison to member retention and development on the Member Retention Committee.
The Director of Member Engagement will work with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and IAMC staff to ensure that the membership value proposition continues to be a primary focus IAMC’s strategic planning.
As such, this position will advise and assist in the development and deployment of membership marketing strategies, working collaboratively with the Director of Marketing & Conference Programming.
This position will oversee the maintenance of current member profiles in the IAMC database, and other administrative duties which are part of the process of retaining and engaging current members.
The Director of Member Engagement will work with the staff team to plan, execute and promote IAMC Local meetings
In addition, this position will work with the overall IAMC team and support other activities which provide member value, such as IAMC Forums.
The Director of Member Engagement will assist with special projects and other association management duties as assigned.
Assess member needs and work under the direction of the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop a strategy for membership recruitment and engagement
Staff liaison for a select number of committees – participate in the calls and assist with deliverables as determined by the committee
Work with Director of Member Recruitment collaboratively on activities and initiatives which have the potential to recruit new members
Perform other duties as assigned
SOME SPECIFIC DUTIES MAY INCLUDE (but not limited to):
Analyze current strategies for membership engagement and retention and implement a comprehensive membership engagement and recruitment plan, including specific, measurable actions and goals
Enhance membership communication by connecting IAMC membership offerings with appropriate members and promoting involvement in programs, including IAMC Forums, Local events, leadership development, awards and member volunteer opportunities.
Oversee the IAMC engagement platform and knowledge management center
Create and maintain relationships with current IAMC members and stakeholders by serving as the primary contact for membership
Prepare timely membership reports to track critical membership data, analyze and report strategic results and findings to make recommendations for improvements
Serve as a staff liaison for the Membership Council and the Member Retention Committee
Coordinate and administer communication materials including assembly and distribution of mailings and other outreach/engagement collateral
Continue to improve the member onboarding process in conjunction with the Director of Member Recruitment
Lead and execute the Ambassador Program for all new IAMC members
Manage membership renewals process and work with accounting to ensure membership renewal questions and concerns from members are addressed
Lead and execute the annual IAMC Awards and recognition programs
Work with staff to develop membership marketing materials, including print and digital materials
Update monthly, position-specific activity reports for the Board
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Associate degree required or equivalent experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
4+ years in a nonprofit organization/association working with volunteers or association members
Outgoing, friendly, trustworthy, passionate and caring demeanor
Strong customer service orientation for both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work collaboratively with members, leadership and staff
Strong data analysis skills
Excellent project management skills
Excellent organization and administrative skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and effectively perform in a fast-paced environment
