The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) in Arlington, VA, a professional scientific society, is recruiting for a Membership Specialist – Engagement. The Membership Specialist is responsible for member relations and customer service. The Membership Specialist focuses on engagement and new member satisfaction. The Membership Specialist supports related efforts of internal business units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide initial and follow up customer service to member inquiries;
Register members/customers for AAPS events, such as eCourses, webinars, and workshops;
Process changes to member information, addresses, and demographics within the database;
Provide timely and accurate processing of membership and workshop batches;
Process returned mail and all list opt-out requests;
Support member recruitment and retention efforts;
Create iMIS source codes, products, and activities as needed;
Maintain a supply of AAPS promotional items as needed;
Participate in the testing of new technologies (e.g. iMIS, Blue Sky eCourses, etc.);
Onsite customer service at AAPS events as needed;
Support membership initiatives during PharmSci 360 meeting;
Identify prospect opportunities through AAPs events, education programs and through sister organizations;
Work closely with staff to ensure membership information is available at all AAPS events;
Distribution of renewal emails and various Informz emails blasts;
Conduct monthly new-member orientations and other activities aimed at retaining first-year members;
Support member engagement process, including onboarding for new members;
Support AAPS workshop needs, including registration, iMIS setup and on-site staffing;
Leverage existing member benefits in communications with members as part of efforts to increase member retention;
Monitor member retention practices that will welcome and retain members;
Analyze statistical reports to track retention efforts; and
Identify and strategize to keep at risk members.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or marketing preferred but not required.
Three to five years relevant experience.
Proficiency using iMIS association management software required.
Experience in MS Office Professional Suite.
