Education and Training, Meetings/Expositions/Events, Research and Information
Responsible for providing leadership, oversight and management of the Society’s education programs, meetings and clinical research activities. This includes all strategic direction, logistics planning, financial management, and execution of activities with respect to ASDS’s education including but not limited to the Annual Meeting and other live educational programs, distance-learning and derivative educational products, all educational exchange programs, meeting’s management, and research activities including the Cutting Edge Research Grant program, ACCME accreditation compliance and guidelines development. Serves as a member of the senior management team.
Responsible for the strategy and development of the Society’s education and research programs. Ensures programs meets member needs and requirement for continuing medical education credit and maintenance of certification. Utilizes various assessment techniques to determine member needs and satisfaction with educational program offerings. Establishes performance metrics to measure effectiveness.
Responsible for ACCME accreditation compliance. Assures that systems, processes, and policies are in place to support compliance in the most effective and efficient means possible while balancing the need for corporate support.
Responsible for the Annual Meeting educational content, including but not limited to general sessions, break-out sessions, pre-conferences, patient demonstrations, workshops and mini-symposia. Oversees logistics and space needs for educational sessions, board meetings, social functions, exhibits and work group meetings.
Oversees all meeting planning responsibilities, including site selection, contract negotiations, logistics planning, and all tasks associated with the successful execution of meetings are satisfied, including but not limited to the Annual Meeting and all related events, procedural courses, industry advisory retreat, Future Leaders Network meeting, board meetings, and work group meetings in conjunction with the American Academy of Dermatology meeting.
Oversees all objectives specific to procedural courses, derivative products and distance-learning offerings are satisfied including strategic planning, content development, successful launch and execution.
Oversees Educational Exchange, Cutting Edge Research, and other related programs.
Facilitates and manages the development of guidelines including selection of topics, authors, reviewers, production timeline, and submission to the ASDS Board for approval.
Effectively manages the finances relating to Education, Meetings and Research activities. Responsible for the development and management of the annual budget, financial projections and achieving stated financial goals. Makes adjustments to activity throughout the year in order to preserve a positive outcome. Provides revenue and expense spreads and re-forecasts as requested. Analyzes return on investment and makes recommendations accordingly.
Responsible for the management and professional development of departmental staff. Supervises the Education Programs Manager, Meeting Planner, Education Manager, and Education and Meetings Assistant in her/his duties.
Serves as a member of the senior management team. Assists in the strategic planning process and works closely with the Executive Director, volunteer leadership and management team in its implementation.
Minimum 5-7 years experience in the delivery of adult education for professional medical association
Minimum 5 years management experience
Knowledgeable on ACCME criteria and guidelines
Knowledgeable in education related technologies
Excellent organizational skills
Well developed written, verbal and analytical skills
Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to think and plan strategically
Detail oriented, thorough, resourceful, and self-motivated
