The membership Director is responsible for identifying and recruiting prospective members, and fostering ongoing relationships to retain current members. Reporting to the Senior Director, Outreach and Engagement, the Director also supports the department in meeting its budgetary goals
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of recruiting and/or selling, leveraging established relationships with key decision makers and leaders to meet objectives. The candidate will demonstrate flexible and efficient time management, with the ability to manage and prioritize workload, while adhering to association policies and procedures
Strategically coordinate and implement outreach initiatives to include phone, email, site visits, and marketing collateral to meet association objectives.
Develop, implement, and maintain membership retention strategies to meet or exceed association objectives.
Provide accurate membership reports to the Sr. Director of Outreach and Engagement on a predetermined schedule.
Coordinate sales and retention efforts with Membership Liaison.
Oversee on-boarding, reporting, and membership invoicing.
Follow industry issues to better understand the needs of members and prospects.
Plan/execute a marketing strategy to maximize the return on time invested.
Plan and execute an annual budget
Participate in state association meetings, trade shows and annual convention.
Work in collaboration with our Event and Education teams to design multi-faceted sales campaigns.
Experience/Education: Minimum of five years sales experience with a proven track record of success. Undergraduate degree preferred, but not required.
Skills/Capabilities: Position requires a goal-oriented, resourceful, self-starter who is available to travel as needed. Very strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and priority-setting skills are necessary for success in this position. Also required are excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office and AMS software.
