Function and Scope:
The department of Member Strategy is responsible for partnering with member leaders to identify & develop member-driven strategic initiatives within the College. The department also partners internally with ACC staff leads to implement member-driven initiatives within the College.
The Program Manager is responsible for the growth and development of assigned committees, segments and sections of the ACC. The Expert works closely with the Supervisor and member leaders to develop and implement the corresponding strategies for the assigned constituencies. This position is then accountable for developing and implementing an operational plan supporting the member-driven strategy which ultimately drives member value and satisfaction, product and program sales, active segment participation in the College and local chapters, and active segment support of other key college initiatives.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as lead staff for member sections as assigned. Coordinate and ensure timely implementation of all activities across the College relevant to the areas assigned
Primary staff liaison to clinical councils and sections as assigned (member segments based on clinical specialty), as well as their affiliated work groups and initiatives.
Address needs of cardiologists with corresponding professional and clinical backgrounds.
Develop and implement an annual operational segment and section plan which defines key initiatives for the segment and section and includes measurable outcomes.
Work with relevant member leaders and staff to insure that the appropriate measures have been identified to monitor the well-being of the sections and work groups. Simultaneously work with the appropriate staff to insure that the appropriate reporting mechanisms are in place to support the measures.
Work with relevant member leaders and staff to ensure that the strategy and operational plan aligns with the College mission and pillars.
Committee management, including preparation of meeting materials and relevant follow-through on activities.
Develop and manage an annual budget for assigned sections and segments.
Plan all programming events for segments at annual conferences, including recruiting speakers, creating promotional materials, managing schedules, and onsite coordination.
Develop and manage relevant communications, including recruitment and retention messages and program promotions.
Serve as the College’s staff expert on the assigned groups’ needs for other staff and key stakeholders. Work closely with staff from all departments within the College to support member driven programmatic initiatives.
Identifying potential external partners and stake holders to support ongoing member segment activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s College/University degree.
Four plus years of progressive experience in association management, nonprofit, or healthcare industry.
Experience with developing budgets and operational plans for programs.
Experience managing committees or member groups.
Ability to initiate and persevere on complex projects with minimal supervision.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong skills with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Diplomatic communication skills with members, member leaders and staff leaders.
Ability to work across several divisions in achieving membership objectives.
Adaptable and flexible; able to work in challenging and changing circumstances.
Master’s degree and/or 4 plus years experience in academic and/or healthcare service environment.
Some knowledge or proven acumen to learn about the educational and training track required to become a cardiologist, career options available within the profession, and cardiac care team/physician career development/advancement issues.
Membership database administration experience. Ideally an AMS system such as Personify.
